๐Ÿก Dehradun Cottage Project – A Simple Yet Warm Hill Home Makeover

๐Ÿ‘ท‍♂️ Project Background

Mr. Rawat purchased an old cottage on the outskirts of Dehradun, planning to turn it into a peaceful weekend home. He reached out to us at Doodle Design via Instagram with a clear request — keep the structure intact, but completely change the look and feel of the house using natural materials, soothing colors, and low-maintenance finishes.

He didn’t want anything too flashy — just a clean, peaceful, and functional hill home.

๐Ÿงฑ Exterior Work – Keeping the Charm, Upgrading the Look

  • The existing sloped roof was retained but repaired and finished with stone-textured tiles.

  • External walls were updated using HPL cladding and weather-resistant textured paint.

  • All old windows were replaced with UPVC sliding windows, which improved insulation and aesthetics.

  • Porch and entrance areas were finished with natural sandstone, perfect for hill climates.

  • A simple landscape layout was also created for a tidy garden space.

๐Ÿ  Interiors – Small House, Smart Design

  • Open living + dining area created with compact, made-to-measure furniture.

  • Modular kitchen in a clean white laminate with ample natural light.

  • Wooden ceiling rafters were added to give warmth and a cottage-like feel.

  • Bedroom was designed with soft wallpaper, and a custom low-height wooden bed.

  • Bathrooms featured anti-skid tiles, matte black fittings, and functional storage.

  • HPL Cladding: Vertical woodgrain, 18mm

  • Windows: 3-track sliding UPVC – white finish

  • Paints: Exterior – Apex Dusty Beige | Interior – Asian Paints Tranquil White

  • Ceilings: Exposed 6x2 wood rafters with matte polish

  • Kitchen: L-shaped layout, granite countertop, soft-close hardware
