How a Stilt + 4 Floor Building is Constructed
๐ฌ Video Intro (Voiceover):
Welcome to Doodle Design’s animated blog series! In this video, we’ll walk you through the complete step-by-step construction process of a typical Stilt + 4 Floor (G+4) building, using simple animations to explain each stage clearly and visually.
๐️ Step-by-Step Construction Process:
1. Site Clearance & Layout Marking
-
Clear the plot of any old structures or debris.
-
Level the ground and prepare the layout.
-
Mark foundation points, columns, walls, staircase, and lift shaft using the architect’s and engineer’s drawings.
๐ฏ Animation Tip: Show an empty plot transforming into a marked layout.
2. Excavation & Earthwork
-
Use JCB or excavators to dig the foundation area.
-
Ensure proper depth as per structural drawings.
-
Install dewatering systems if groundwater is high.
3. Footing & Foundation Work
-
Based on the soil test, choose isolated or raft footing.
-
Lay PCC (Plain Cement Concrete).
-
Fix reinforcement bars and shuttering.
-
Pour concrete and start curing for 7–14 days.
4. Column Casting Up to Plinth Level
-
Cast columns from foundation up to plinth height.
-
Construct plinth beam and fill the area with soil.
-
Lay DPC (Damp Proof Course) above the plinth.
5. Stilt Floor Construction
-
Extend columns from plinth to stilt slab level.
-
Fix slab reinforcement, centering, and shuttering.
-
Pour slab concrete and begin curing.
๐ฏ Note: The stilt floor is generally used for parking or services.
6. Superstructure: First to Fourth Floor
-
Repeat floor-wise construction:
-
Column casting
-
Beam and slab reinforcement
-
Formwork and slab pouring
-
Brickwork and wall construction
-
-
Allow proper curing after each slab and wall.
7. Staircase & Lift Shaft Construction
-
Construct staircases using RCC cast-in-situ method.
-
Lift shafts are cast vertically with precise measurements.
8. Brickwork & Internal Partitions
-
External 9" walls and internal 4"/AAC blocks are built.
-
Window and door frames are fixed during this stage.
-
RCC lintels are cast above openings.
9. Plastering & Surface Finishing
-
Cement-sand plaster is applied to internal and external walls.
-
Waterproofing is done in terraces, bathrooms, and wet areas.
10. Electrical & Plumbing (First Fix)
-
Electrical conduit and switch boxes are embedded in walls.
-
Plumbing lines for water supply and drainage are installed.
๐ฏ Tip: Complete before plastering to avoid rework.
11. Flooring & Tiling
-
Tile fixing in bathrooms, kitchen, and rooms.
-
Skirting and wall dado work is completed.
-
Other flooring (vitrified, wooden, or marble) is laid.
12. Ceiling & POP Works
-
False ceiling (POP or gypsum) is installed.
-
Include cove lighting, spotlights, or design elements like fluted POP.
13. Door, Window & Grill Installation
-
Fix UPVC, aluminium, or wooden windows.
-
Install doors, balcony railings, and safety grills if needed.
14. Painting & Final Electrical Fixtures
-
Apply primer, wall putty, and paint (interior & exterior).
-
Install switches, fans, lights, and test fittings.
15. Modular & Interior Work (Optional)
-
Install modular kitchen, wardrobes, and furniture.
-
Finish with wallpapers, curtains, and soft decor.
16. Final Inspection & Handover
-
Final site cleaning and inspection.
-
Hand over the building to the client after quality checks.
